Words of Inspiration and Motivation

When teachers encourage children’s curiosity and help them to ask questions, the study of local everyday topics becomes interesting and relevant to them. Young children’s learning is energized as they become part of a community of investigators and share the findings of their inquiry. Children apply skills and knowledge in their study of buses, shoes, trees, or grocery stores. They learn about the value of reading, writing, and numbers in the life of the adults around them. In the context of the project the children become apprentices in the pursuit of knowledge alongside their teachers. Teachers take a responsive role in developing the project. They coordinate different interests and support small group and individual inquiries as these emerge. Teachers who use the project approach report that students show great interest and actively participate. They ask questions and follow up their own curiosity with investigations.

This is an excerpt from an article from Sylvia Chard explaining the advantages of the Project Approach.  Which is what she developed along with Lilian Katz and it is the method of teaching children through project investigations.

When I observe and reflect on the complexities of providing good quality programs for the preschoolers in our state, it occurs to me that we should be primarily concerned about the nature of the experiences they are having in these programs rather than just about “outcomes” and “outputs.”Standards of Experience by Lilian Katz  October 2012

In the media segment Sandy Escobido stated her passion comes from the involvement of her parents  and how they played a role in her education.  It made her want to be involved in education.  In early education she feels that it’s a unique opportunity to work with children she also said those in early childhood children have the opportunity to shape a child’s life for the better.

Personal Childhood Web

My mother who is my best friend taught me everything about being a good mother and devoted wife.  She taught me the importance of expressing myself.   She is and has always been the most honest person I know. Today I instill in my children the same values she taught me and my brothers.   I teach my children the importance of standing up for what is right and to never be afraid to speak their minds, as long as they are not being disrespectful!! LOL!

My father  taught me how to be independent.   I learned from him that everything you want in life you have to work for it.   He was and still is a very successful businessman.   He made multiple sacrifices to make sure we were taken care of.  He is an awesome provider but most importantly an awesome father.

My grandparents taught me the meaning of true love.  They were married for over 60 years before my grandmother passed away 2 years ago.  Whenever you would see one you would see the other.  They were always so affectionate towards one another.  They would hold hands and would give each other kisses.   The cutest couple I’d ever seen!!

My big brother, my hero, always has and always will be!!  He’s always had my back since we were kids getting in trouble together.  I admire him for his dedication to our country.  He’s  a Seargant  Major General in the US Army.  He is currently in his 24th year of active duty.  He’s a terrific dad and devoted husband.  No matter how far away he is he still manages to messege me to get his sister’s opinion on personal and professional issues.   He taught me the importance of dedication.  I plan to be as dedicated to educating children as he is to his career.

Childhood Memories

Hello Everyone!!  This is a picture of me at 3 years old.
I chose the book Corduroy because this is the only book I can remember reading as a small child.  I remember reading this book over and over again.  This was absolutely my favorite book!! I just get a warm feeling when I look at the cover of the book.  It brings back so many memories!!!

This quote about children really means something to me.  I am sure you all can relate.

"The soul is healed by being with children." Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Children are the most brutally honest human beings on this earth!!  But when you are at your lowest they can do or say something to make you smile and laugh so hard you've forgotten about your troubles for that moment.
